Memphis Summer Proves Dangerous for Drivers

The period between Memorial Day and Labor Day is known as the “100 Deadliest Days” for drivers and encompasses 9 of the 10 most dangerous days on U.S. Highways. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a high volume of holiday travelers and alcohol-impaired drivers contribute to the number of automotive deaths being twice as high during summer months.

Memphis appears to be no exception. In June, one adult and two children were killed in car accidents in the urban area. One of the accidents occurred on I-40 at Germantown Road and took place when a pickup truck slammed into the back of a semi-trailer. The other happened near the intersection of Riverdale and Rockingham in southeast Memphis when two cars collided, both containing children.

In July, a two-car collision near the I-55 North and Holmes Road critically injured three people and a four-car accident on West Mitchell Road left two injured and one dead.

While many of these investigations are ongoing, one of the accidents involved a commercial vehicle and could have been caused or complicated by the truck driver or shipping company’s negligence. Another is suspected to have involved reckless or negligent speeding.

Here at Maria Jones Law Firm, our heart goes out to the victims.

While their losses will never be truly recovered, hiring an attorney and filing a personal injury claim may help them ease their financial and emotional burden, especially if the accident was not their fault, or was caused by the carelessness of another.

Our team at Maria Jones Law Firm may be able to help anyone who has lost a loved one or been injured due to a preventable car or truck accident receive compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and more.
